Day 1: ARUSHA
One of our country managers will meet you on arrival and escort you to your lodge for the evening.
Day 2: ARUSHA and TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Your personal guide, escorts you to Tarangire National Park. On the drive to the luxury camp for dinner, you will see ancient rolling hills, stunning baobab trees, and massive elephant populations.
Day 3: NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
Transfer from Tarangire to the Ngorongoro conservation area, a huge crater and UNESCO word heritage site with its own ecosystem for game driving and an incredible panoramic view from your luxury lodge at the rim.
Day 4: NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA - OLDUVAI GORGRE - SERENGETI
Take a walk on the crater rim for phenomenal views and photographs where you may catch a glimpse of the endangered Black Rhino! Then it is on to the Serengeti plains through Olduvai gorge (one of the most important prehistoric sites in the world). Another luxury rim hotel with phenomenal views greets us upon our arrival.
Day 5: SERENGETI
The Serengeti plains are the site of the great migration, which you are most likely to see if you travel between the months of December-June. Regardless of the time of your trip, you will see incredible amounts of life.
Day 6: SERENGETI - ARUSHA
A flight back to Arusha and a day of craft market exploration and rest prepare us for our foray into two of the least visited parks in the country
Day 7: ARUSHA - KATAVI
We have arrived! There will be no roaring engines of other jeeps in this extremely biodiverse and extremely private park. There was an estimated 250 visitors total in 2005.
Day 8: KATAVI
Continue exploring this magical and quiet park with game drives and a walking safari.
Day 9: KATAVI
Katavi Park is at it's best in the dry season, when the plains fill with thousands of zebra, topi, impala, hartebeest, giraffe and defassa waterbuck, elephants and water buffalo. It is one of the best parks in TZ to witness an lion-buffalo interaction.
Day 10: KATAVI - MAHALE
The Mahale Mountains reserve has one of the highest populations of chimpanzees in the country. There are no roads in this park so we will experience it by boat, floating through waterfalls and pristine lakes all the while listening to the sound of nature all around us.
Day 11: MAHALE
Today we will go on a hike in the mountain range area within the park and have direct contact with the chimps that flourish here due to their protected status. Chimps are comfortable with human presence and will go about their daily existence as you sit on the forest floor soaking up the experience.
Day 12: MAHALE
Explore the lakeshore of powder white sand, with the majesty of the mountains sloping upwards in front of you. Catch a glimpse of, not only chimps, but the largest concentration of primates including yellow baboons, red colobus, blue, red-tailed and vervet monkies in the country.
Day 13: MAHALE
Enjoy your last early morning game drive and after breakfast, catch a charter flight to Arusha. Enjoy a later lunch and dinner at your lodge. The rest of the evening is at your leisure.
Day 14: MAHALE - ARUSHA
Relax in your dayroom and eat lunch before a transfer to Kilimanjaro airport.
